1 November. Sixty days to 31 December 2026 — and roughly forty of them are usable.
That is the arithmetic nobody does. December looks like a month on the calendar and behaves like two weeks in practice. Your officer takes leave. The developer who knows the codebase takes leave. The person who signs is in a different country from the twentieth onward. The deadline does not move for any of it.
Three situations. One of them is yours.
A) You know the report is due and you have decided to deal with it in December, because December is still two months away.
B) You started, found barriers on the site, and the fixing stalled waiting for a developer who has other work booked.
C) You assumed somebody else in the organization was handling it, and nobody has confirmed either way.
Here is what each week actually costs. Nothing — until it costs everything at once.
Right now: you test, fix and retest calmly, with time to argue about priorities.
November: the record is signed while people are still at their desks.
December: your officer files it, with a document already in hand.
Late December: the offices are empty and there is nothing to file.
The distinction that matters, and the one most people get backwards: the fixing is what cannot be rushed, not the record. A developer needs weeks to clear real barriers — unlabelled form fields, focus that disappears, contrast that fails. The signed conformance record needs five working days. If you compress anything, compress the paperwork, not the engineering.
And if you are already late: file anyway, with the barriers written down honestly. Silence escalates. A report that says "these three criteria are not yet met, here is the remediation schedule" is a defensible position. A missing filing is not one. Enforcement in Ontario is graduated — a reminder first, then a request for evidence — and an honest record is exactly what turns a reminder into a closed file.
Write A, B or C in the comments. I read each one and answer personally with the realistic schedule for your situation, working backwards from 31 December.
Then send this to whoever would actually have to sign it. They are the one with the December travel plans.
